The Circle of Compassion

One universal truth in life - we all suffer. We experience pain, tragedy and misfortune, great or small. And it manifests in physical, mental and emotional struggles.

We turn to self-destructive habits, attitudes and behaviours at home or work:

  • Seeking addictive substances for escape, or easing pain.

  • Avoiding, denying or suppressing our feelings and emotions

  • Withdrawing from social connection or support systems

And many more conditioned habits or coping strategies, which provide temporary relief but may add to our “suffering” over time.

And when we witness the suffering others, we may struggle to offer the support they need. And in some cases, over-extend our support and exhaust ourselves, losing sight of wellbeing needs.

But there is an antidote.

A powerful way to self-support and recognise the common humanity in our suffering. A kind, empathetic, authentic and emotionally supportive way to build connection.

It’s Compassion 💗

An outward, or inward response which relieves suffering and as a result:

  • Supports physical, mental emotional needs of others - fostering trust, belonging and empathetic bonding.

  • Mindfully recognises our need for self-empathy, boundaries, self-kindness and care.

  • Alleviates stress, regulates our emotions and builds resilience.

An antidote to life’s Carousel of Stress 🎠

And alongside social and peer support, exercise, talking therapy and professional training like Mindfulness, Stress Management or Compassion Focused Therapy - how you connect with “Compassion” - will be the most powerful antidote of all to suffering.
